What does teabagging mean in gaming

Used a practical joke or prank, when performed on someone who is asleep, or as a sexual act. At the frat house last night, when Tim was wasted an down on the floor, he got teabagged by, like, ten guys! Me and Jen were teabagging last night when her mom walked in. Get a teabagging mug for your boyfriend Bob.

Man: Let's teabag! Your Daughter : Okay! The act of plunging your scrotum into a receptive ladies mouth, in a similar way to how you make a cup of tea. It also brings a man to the boil, like a kettle. Wing-Kin only enjoyed it when Susan was in the mood to do some teabagging. Thus, the simplest solution to the problem is to teabag. This non-verbally informs the fallen adversary that "they suck," and it's fast enough that the player doesn't have to sacrifice positioning to get the message across.

Depending on the victim, teabagging may elicit anywhere from a chuckle to full-blown rage. Opponents who react with anger toward a teabag are more likely to solely focus on the initiator.

However, this rage-fueled revenge has a downside, as the player may suffer from tunnel vision in their quest to get even. They'll go out of their way to get back at the initiator, making their actions somewhat predictable. The initial teabagger may even have anticipated the response and is hoping to secure another kill.

At the end of it all, it's unlikely the one seeking revenge will feel vindicated. Therein lies the primary issue players have with teabagging: It's seen as disrespectful, and it possesses the potential to promote toxicity within a game. Playing a game is supposed to be fun and if someone is constantly disrespecting other players, it's difficult to find enjoyment in that.

Even prominent gaming personalities are split on the issue. Context also matters. When a player does a sneaky play, only to find themselves outplayed by an opponent, perhaps the opponent deserves a moment of teabagging. But, when four players see a popular esports pro's name in the kill feed, track that player down, gang up on the pro and then still teabag that player, that's toxic.

It doesn't honor the team's skill; rather, it's a display of hostility. So, is it time to put the teabag out to dry? Many gamers would say no. And yes, it can be a source of true gamer rage. In fact, in the game Destiny 2 , players were adamant that the game should have a teabag emote.

The emote wouldn't be of someone actually teabagging another player — players can already do that using the game's crouch mechanic — it would show the player dunking a tea packet into a cup of hot water. While the devs never did give players such a spot-on emote with so much room to promote toxicity, it did offer the Cup of Tea emote, which shows a player preparing a cup of tea and drinking it.

It was a lighthearted, funny way to convey the meaning of the teabag without being so on-the-nose about it. Those who can shrug off its toxicity see it instead as a lighthearted troll. Without teabagging, options to tease and disparage competitors would be far more limited. Perhaps some people prefer the subtlety of an out-of-context tactical crouch mechanic to the prospect of hateful trash talk, threats and worse.

Because, much like a pair of testicles, those other options would be very hard to swallow. She regularly contributes to Frederator Digital's YouTube gaming channel The Leaderboard, which recently surpassed a million subscribers.
